I made an agility course for my cat and he loves it!

The agility course I made for my cat includes stuff we already have at home. We used my furniture, his furniture, and my arms as a hoop to jump through. And I’m using clicker training to teach him how to do all of it.

I started clicker training Jericho back in 2021. We’ve been on and off over the years. But we started back up again in 2026. And now clicker training is part of our daily routine.

I love using clicker training for agility and physical activity. Even though Jericho runs around and plays like a maniac already lol.

But I’ve been getting more into tricks that focus on agility and activity. So we built an agility course!

What I’m using to make the agility course for my cat:

Use what you have around your home. All our furniture is already set up next to each other. So I didn’t have to move anything around – just the tunnel. Just take a look at your design and use what you have!

How I run Jericho through the agility course

First, I make Jericho circle the scratching post and then do a nose boop on the target stick up high. Then from there he jumps up onto the couch, runs across and jumps to the bed, then jumps to the window perch. I make him sit and stay on the window perch before moving on just to break it up.

Next Jericho jumps up on top of his condo, then jumps down his DIY cat stairs, runs across the floor, and jumps over his tunnel. Then I move his tunnel out of the way and make a hoop with my arms.

Jericho is very good with the target stick. So that part of the agility course didn’t take long for him to understand. He’s been doing target stick training on and off over the years.

The arm hoop jump is a completely new trick though! It took about one week for him to jump through my arms while they were set up against the wall. And another two weeks or so for him to know right away to jump through my arms without having them set up against the wall.

I practice moving the arm hoop a bit higher and higher each time now that Jericho understands the arm hoop jump fully.

What we’re training next

I’m looking through Cat School’s videos to see which tricks I want to do next. I’m thinking: paws on feet, high five both paws, foot stall trick, airplane arms, jump into my arms, roll over, leg weaves, jump through leg hoop.

Wow there are so many!

Jericho’s first week with clicker training

By the way, you can watch Jericho’s first week of clicker training below. He did not get it right away! Jericho is food-motivated so it’s very easy to keep practicing.

The clicker in the video above is Cat School’s original design. There is a new clicker design now. And I like the new one much better!
