My favorite freezer organization hack to store raw cat food is to use a vacuum sealer. Vacuum sealing food is excellent for saving space in your freezer.
It can also help keep the food fresher longer!
I raw fed Jericho for a few years before I bought a vacuum sealer. So it isnāt mandatory if you want to feed raw.
But itās definitely helpful if you buy raw cat food in bulk and need to save space in the freezer.

Clean out your freezer
So before you spend money on a vacuum sealer⦠Spend time cleaning out your freezer.
For example, my freezer is packed. But itās packed with food we eat daily or weekly.
The top part of the freezer is for my meat (I eat a lot of meat). And the bottom is for Jericho.
I order 20 pounds of ground beef and 4 packs of chicken thighs every 3 weeks or so for me. Plus we have individual packets of salmon.
All of those meats come already vacuum sealed so thatās very nice.
Then I have Jerichoās food. Thatās it!
And we have a regular apartment refrigerator/freezer. We donāt have an additional freezer.
Vacuum sealer I use for raw cat food
I use the FoodSaver vacuum sealer. Right now I am using that with their precut bags.

I also bought the reusable bags, but you need an additional attachment to use those with the sealer.
So for now Iām using the precut bags until I run out. Then I will buy the reusable bag attachment sealer.
The sealer is very easy to use and works really well.
But hereās a big tip – the food needs to be frozen before you seal it. Otherwise, all the juices will come out of the meat and it wonāt get rid of all the air in the pack.
Itās also better if the food is packed down to a single layer. This makes stacking packs easier for better organization.

I used to stack 8 weeksā worth of DIY raw in the freezer for about 5 hours then vacuum sealed it. The shape of each pack molded to each other so I stacked them the same way when I put them back in the freezer.
Iām feeding Viva Raw for now because they sent me their new pork protein. And thatās already vacuum sealed.
But I will use the vacuum sealer for whatever raw food I get next. Iād rather buy it locally so I donāt have to buy in bulk. And Viva Raw is not available in stores.
I will also use the vacuum sealer for Jerichoās whole prey if the original bags rip. This saves so much space compared to using a glass pyrex container.
I highly recommend the FoodSaver vacuum sealer if you need help with freezer storage.
