Litter supplies
Naturally Fresh walnut cat litter
I’ve tried 11 types of litter. I’m not 100% satisfied with any of them.
But walnut cat litter seems to be the best option we have.
It clumps naturally, and unscented versions are available.
It’s safe to breathe and ingest. Cats will inevitably ingest some litter.

Metal litter scoop
Ditch plastic. It traps bacteria. Even with regular washing.
A metal litter scoop is much easier to clean. Litter doesn’t get glued on it like on plastic.

Frisco waste bags
These are meant for dog waste.
But these waste bags are the perfect size for your DIY litter genie.

Cat food
I’ve analyzed 100 different cat food brands. These are the best.
Note: Cats are sensitive to food changes. Please transition cat food slowly.
Ziwi Peak
Ziwi Peak has air-dried foods and wet canned foods.
The air-dried food is a great transition food to get your cat off kibble. It helped my mother’s 4 cats kick the kibble addiction.
And their wet food is high in protein and low in carbs. My best friend transitioned her cat from kibble to Ziwi’s wet food.
She says her cat doesn’t need to drink as much water. And her fur is super soft and silky now.
Ziwi Peak uses whole sources of meat, bones, and organs ingredients. No mystery “by-products”.
All of Ziwi’s products are suitable for adult cats and kittens.

Caru
Caru makes wet food stews and broths that are human-grade quality.
I’d suggest using Caru as a topper to add more moisture to dry food.
This will also help your cat get used to eating better quality food.
That will make the transition to wet or raw much easier.
Caru is appropriate for adult cats and kittens.

The Honest Kitchen
The Honest Kitchen is another cat food brand that has earned its human-grade claim by the FDA.
Their ingredients are lightly cooked and then dehydrated. They sell complete food, broths, and treats.
The carbohydrate amount is very high. However, all commercial cat food (especially kibble) is very high in carbohydrates.
At least THK uses the best quality ingredients. So it’s still an upgrade from most kibble and canned foods.
I fed THK to Jericho during his transition to raw.
The Honest Kitchen food is suitable for adult cats only.

New Zealand Natural Pet Food Co.
NZ Natural makes freeze-dried raw complete foods and treats.
Jericho absolutely loves the freeze-dried beef tripe and green-lipped mussel treats.
All of NZ Natural’s recipes use a variety of meat, bones, and organs ingredients.
This is a great and easy option for those that want to feed raw.
NZ Natural foods are suitable for adult cats and kittens.

Stainless steel bowls
Did you know that plastic traps bacteria? Even with regular washing!
Use stainless steel or ceramic cat plates instead.
Steel and ceramic are much more sanitary and easier to clean.

Toys
Cats need regular playtime daily.
Tip: Check out my video tutorial on how I get my cat to play.
Ripple Rug
The Ripple Rug is a versatile activity center. You can hide toys and treats inside the ripples.
Jericho and I play on the Ripple Rug daily.
He loves when I tease toys around it. And he bats at the hidden toys under the ripples.
Jericho also scratches on it and hides under the rug when he’s feeling cheeky.
You can wash it easily on a delicate cycle with cold water. Hang-dry only.

Frisco wire teaser cat toy
This is Chewy’s version of the Cat Dancer.
I personally think the Cat Dancer is easier to control because it’s shorter in length.
But Jericho still loves to play with Frisco’s wire teaser.
Cats love shiny wires and cardboard pieces. So this simple toy is very effective.

SmartyKat chickadee chirp cat toy
SmartyKat’s chirp toys look and sound like birds.
Jericho goes crazy for the bird. He chases it across the room and bats at it.
The bird continues to chirp while your cat plays with it.
So that makes your cat want to play even more!

Furniture
Cat furniture is essential because it provides mental stimulation and enrichment.
Cats love to climb, scratch, and perch up high.
Bergen chaser turbo scratcher
The Bergen turbo scratcher includes a scratch pad and a ball track around the pad.
Jericho loves to scratch on this thing. He doesn’t use the ball toy too much.
But the scratcher is definitely worth it.

Cat condo
The Frisco cat condo has multiple platforms for perching and climbing.
It’s very tall, but it doesn’t take up a lot of floor space. So it’s perfect for small apartments.
Jericho loves lounging on the top perches because I put it right next to the window.
The window is endless entertainment for cats.

Self Groomer
Catit’s self groomer sticks to the corner of the wall. It’s a comb that your cat can rub up against.
Jericho usually rubs on the walls when he’s trying to be cute.
He likes the self groomer a lot. Sprinkle some catnip on it to entice your cat to use it.

2-in-1 cat dome bed
The cat dome bed is super comfy and machine-washable.
Jericho likes to use the bed both ways – covered and folded down.
I put the bed on the bottom of his cat condo covered. That way he has a little cave to cuddle up in.
Then I put the bed folded down on my desk while I work. He loves to nap near me.

Travel
Cats aren’t keen on traveling. But you can make it comfy for them if you have the right supplies.
Tip: Check out how to travel with cats for more tips.
Cat carrier
Ditch the 1950s plastic jail and get a soft-case carrier instead.
This carrier has 2 entry points on the top and side. It’s also lined with soft Sherpa inside.
And your cat is surrounded by ventilated air holes.
You can carry it by your side using the handle or shoulder strap.

Harness and leash
Ideally, you will train your cat to walk on a harness and leash before you travel.
This will keep your cat safe and make an emergency much easier to handle.
I really like this harness and leash because it’s adjustable. And the leash is bungee which makes for a comfy walk.

Flea and tick spray
Dr. Mercola’s flea and tick spray is made with natural ingredients that repel bugs.
And it was created by Dr. Karen Becker.
There are no harsh chemicals. And it’s safe for kittens too.
