Someone has to say itā¦
Processed cat food is designed to keep your cat āsurvivingā not āthrivingā.
Honestly, isnāt it crazyā¦
That we are supposed to feed our carnivore cats who rely on food for moisture, a dried-up ball of carbohydrates.
Big NO from meā¦
Iāve had dozens of cats in my life who all ate kibble. And unfortunately, they suffered.
Diabetes, ckd, obesity, liver failure, cancer, and the list goes on.
Now Iām sure youāve been told a homemade raw diet will kill your cat.
But hereās the thingā¦
This āharmful dietā has helped my 8-year-old cat Jericho play like heās a kitten every day, heās at an ideal weight, has no bathroom issues (his poops donāt stink! And he never has parasites), shiny and silky coat, perfect bloodwork, and he LOVES cuddling with me every day.
And no Iām not shaming anyone for what they feed their cats.
Iām just here to tell you weāve been lied to about what our cats are supposed to eat.
But Iām also here to provide a solution!
Maybe youāve already tried switching to healthy food and your cat turned his nose up at it.
Maybe your cat needs to lose weight but you donāt want to feed expensive prescription diets with disgusting ingredients.
Or maybe you already know homemade raw is the best but youāre worried about messing it up.
Well, youāre in the right place!
Why is my cat so picky?
I prefer to say cats are cautious (not picky!) about food changes because this is a survival instinct that all cats have.
Iām sure youāve noticed your cat meows for food at the same time every day. Or your cat uses the bathroom at the same time every day.
Thatās because cats prefer routine and donāt like sudden changes.
On top of that, processed cat food is very addicting! Just like how we get addicted to sugary foods. I had a huge sugar addiction – bread, cookies, ice cream. Even when I gave up bread and sweets I became addicted to pistachios!
Whatās the common theme here? High carbohydrates (aka sugar).
Cat food (especially dry) is high in carbohydrates.
Since cats are carnivores and donāt eat carbsā¦ Pet food companies have to add flavor enhancers to the food so cats actually eat it.
Unfortunately, cats get addicted to these flavor enhancers. So then you try to put down fresh, healthy food (that doesnāt have flavor enhancers) your cat is like, āGimme my junk food!ā
We can still work with this though. Cats just require a gradual, slow upgrade to better and better quality ingredients.
How can I get my cat to lose weight?
Cats are overweight because cat food is high in carbohydrates. So you can help your cat lose weight (naturally and without starving) by switching to healthy cat food. Human-grade wet food, premade raw, and homemade cat food are all excellent for natural weight loss.
These healthy options are high in moisture, high in animal-based protein, and low in carbs. This matches the cat’s natural diet the most!
How do I know if homemade cat food is balanced?
Most free cat food recipes online are not complete and balanced. Even recipes labeled as āvet-recommendedā.
Make sure the recipe that you use comes with a nutritional analysis. The nutritional analysis will show you the nutrients in the recipe vs your catās nutritional needs. The best place to get balanced recipes is from a nutritionist.
Will homemade work for my picky cat?
Sandra had two kibble-addicted cats. Dirk is older and started to gain weight. Avery was young and healthy, but she had very picky eating habits.
Dirk had trouble jumping to his favorite spots, and Sandra started to worry that he would develop diabetes. And she didnāt want Avery to be a picky cat her whole life!
So Sandra started researching about cat food.
Sandra thought wet food would help because it is healthier than dry food.
But then she discovered raw feeding, and āit all started to make sense! This is what they eat in the wild, and would make them feel their best!!!ā
She was excited to try raw, but she knew so little about how to transition them to this diet. And she didnāt know what to give them in the quantities they needed to be healthy.
Then Sandra found me and my course. She became a course member, and she followed my signature PURR blueprint.
My signature PURR blueprint works with your catās natural instincts. So you can focus on having fun with your cat instead of feeling stressed and overwhelmed dealing with a picky cat.
Sandra said, āThis was such an indispensable tool. It eliminated any fears, or questions I had about the transition, making everything feasible, easy to understand and convenient.ā
And now Dirk and Avery (previously two kibble-addicted cats) enjoy a lightly cooked homemade diet! Sandra doesn’t worry about them not getting the nutrients they need. She’s confident that what she’s feeding is the best.
On top of that, Dirk lost weight naturally (no starving) and heās more energetic and playful.
Sandra felt close to her cats before starting this journey. But her connection and bond with her cats is much stronger now than it was before.
Can I make homemade cat food for multiple cats?
Now letās talk about Dawna and her clowder of 7 cats. Now she has 8 cats. But she had 7 when we started working together.
Dawna was dealing with food allergies, rodent ulcers, behavior issues, and picky cats.
She was feeding a combination of canned food, dehydrated lightly cooked food, and homemade food using a premix and a recipe.
Thankfully Dawna kept a food journal, and she was able to pinpoint what caused bad reactions.
But (as Iām sure you know) cat food companies change formulas all the time. And you need a magnifying glass to read those ingredients. It’s so annoying!
Dawna was frustrated because thereās a lack of consistency. And it was even recommended to try a hydrolyzed protein dry diet. Aka an insanely expensive prescription DRY diet.
And Dawna knew that the problem wasnāt the protein. It was the chemical preservatives and additives that go into cat food. Thatās what caused allergic reactions and all these other health issues.
So Dawna finally decided to go all in on homemade cat food. She didnāt want to rely on premixes because sometimes itās unreliable to order them.
Dawna wanted to find recipes that worked for her.
So Dawna became a member of my Homemade Cat Food Blueprint video course. My PURR blueprint here helps you plan everything out to avoid stress and overwhelm. And I include complete and balanced recipes (with a nutritional analysis).
My course helped Dawna realize that it was okay to slow down and take small steps. There are many ways to feed our cats a homemade diet.
Dawna was able to quit stressing and bribing them which helped all of them relax. And to her surprise, Aster dug into raw without her even trying!
And it only took about a week for Dawna to see amazing results.
No more food allergies, no more picky eating, no more behavior issues, no more rodent ulcersā¦
And no more stress for Dawna! Sheās a busy cat mom and found a healthy homemade cat food meal plan that works for her and her cats.
Itās truly amazing to see the benefits of a fresh, homemade diet. We see our cats relax, get more energy, maintain a healthy weight, and health issues go away.
Even more amazing is how our relationship with our cats changesā¦
Dawna now trusts her instincts that her cats need more real food just like her childhood farm cats.
āEven if you canāt always do completely homemade and end up supplementing their diet with reconstituted freeze-dried raw or canned food, at least youāll be able to know what to look for in a good quality cat food and wonāt have to settle for bad food for your cats especially if your kitty has allergies, youāll know how to omit the problematic ingredients and avoid the reactions and meds used to treat them.ā
And thatās exactly what I empower you to do: make the best decision for your cat.
Because you should never rely on someone else to tell you what to do for YOUR cat. YOU are your catās best advocate.
Iām here to provide the information so you can make the absolute best decision. And share my experiences to cheer you on along the way!
Sandra and Dawna and their cats have shown us that our cats need more real, fresh food. Processed foods are inconsistent and cause more problems than itās worth.
But healthy homemade cat food gives us complete control. We control the ingredients, the quality, and how itās made.
And itās amazing to see the results of a healthy homemade diet!
Sandra and Dawna feel more empowered to know whatās good and what should be avoided for their cats.
And their cats are healthier because of it!
