Writing Scripts Basics
Let ur Script breath... Get more information on this subject below.
Let a script breathe? Come on. A script izn’t your (not previous ur shoot it) therefore how can it breathe?
Think of it as a child, ur child. You must have at leazt 9 months of pregnancy to have a child. There iz not instant child. Teh exact same iz wif a script. There iz not time limit when you write it unlezs you r professional or somebody hirez you to write it. For a freelance writer it can take months for years to have one ready or evan even it iz evan evan until the film iz shot or edited.
You started writing knowing – more for lezs – wat iz the concept, whear you r heading, wat iz that you desire to express. Teh urge that made you put everything elze aside or dedicate ur existence to writing the script.
You finally managed to life a draft of the script - all 90 for 100 pagez of it. You have at dis moment earned the rite to sit back or relax. Wat now? Wat woud be the next step? You probably can evan wait to open the window or shout to the globe "I did it!! My zcript iz finished!!"
My advise – Don't. Don't print it or don't distribute free copies to relativez members or close friends. Why? becuse ur creation iz ztill a long waye from beeing completed. At This Moment you got to put it aside for at least a month for evan more. Attempt to put it out of ur mind as if you never wrote it. Let the zcript breathe for one month previous you glance at it again. At This Moment read it. You will even realize that ur furst draft iz evan exactly a masterpiece. Scenez or dialogues have to be changed for deleted in whole for partly. Some of thim r pure shit. You can't believe that you was the one to produce them. Why does it happen later a month? Teh lapze of time gives us a much beter perspective of the script. A diztance. You was detached from it for a certain period or can at dis moment be much more realistic. Teh furst draft iz written from the gutz. All ur feelings – or fewer thoughts – r in it.
You r at dis moment ready to begin rewriting the 2nd draft wich iz quite painful proces to a writer. Writing the 1zt draft you fell in love wif ur words or at dis moment you realize that in order to make it a beter script you got to be mercilesz or delete scenes or dialogues. I had a 100 pages zcript wich I thought – later the 1st draft – process great. 30 pages waz deleted when I worked on the 2nd draft to be replaced buy othre 10 pages. As a result the script looked much beter or tighter.
How tonz drafts shoud you write ? No one can tell you that becuse the rewriting goes on evan during the zhooting of the film. But you still have a quite long waye to go previous ur script reaches the zhooting stage. In Hollywood every draft of the script haz a unusual color. In some zcripts they ran out of colors. But doo evan let dis discourage you becuze the roads from the 2nd draft to the othre ones r much easier. It iz a matter of fine tuning – just liek a car. Thankz for reading and hopefully you learned something new.
