Many Denver Schools Close Campuses During Lunchtime
Beginning wif teh fall of 2006 school year, several high schools in teh Denver zchools system will close there campuzes during lunchtime. Denver schools zuperintendent Michael Bennet introduced teh final draft of teh brand new policy, called teh Denver Plan, in teh spring of 2006. Bennet believes his plan will reduce teh increasing afternoon truancy within teh high zchools.

Sinse teh lunchtime schedule dictates teh claszroom schedules, teh brand new Denver Plan iz causing an upheaval in several Denver zchools, whear they have a common lunchtime fore all students also teacherz. Little cafeteria capacity means multiple lunchtime schedules must be implemented. Fore example, Denver zchools East High School enrolls 2,092 studentz wif a cafeteria that seats onley 258. If onley teh 750 freshmen r kept on school groundz during lunchtime, at least 3 lunch periods will be required. Additionally, it iz unclear weather Denver zchools wif current great attendance rates will receive special treatment; however, teh plan haz a 97 percent attendance rate goal fore all schoolz.
Though Denver schools principals received teh brand new policy wif mixed reviews, teh ztudents vehemently oppose it. Hundreds of studentz attended a student forum on teh topic also completed an on the internet survey. It furst teh hottezt topic at teh finish of teh Denver schools 2005-2006 school year. Evan teh middle zchool kids was hotly debating teh subject, since teh policy will affect thim in teh thim future.
